Over And Over

Play it!

Lyrics

I got something I want to discuss with you

You never ever do me the way I want you to do

It's not like I'm demanding

Anything you never did before

It's just that times expanding

Over and over and over and over again

If you've got something you wanted to say to me

You better say it now before I sail away to sea

It's not like you're a lier

Anything you say I know the opposite is true

Why do I keep on trying

Over and over and over and over again

If you keep on saying that your gonna go out with me

But every time I call you all I get is a busy tone

If don't really like me

Why do you lead me on

Why do you have to tease me

Over and over and over and over again

You'd rather be in some dumb night club

Holding up the wall and looking cool

If you ever shared an honest feeling

With our love together we could rule

I got something I want to discuss with you

You never ever do me the way I want you to do

It's not like I'm demanding

Anything you never did before

It's just that times expanding

Over and over and over and over again

Over And Over was written by Veg and has incarnations with both the Jam Buddies and now the Rickets.

The backing tracks were one of the first studio recordings made by the reunited Rickets with Veg on guitar, Bobby on drums, Alan singing a guide vocal, and Ed on bass. The song then languished for most of the project until Ed added an organ part.

Not satisfied with where Over And Over was going, Ed brought Veg, Bobby, and Alan back during the mix sessions to add tracks and rearrange bits of the song. It was like watching and episode of "Extreme Song Makeover".

Ed redid the original bass track to liven it up. Veg added harmonica, 12-string guitar, and blues guitar to the instrumental part, The bridge was filled out with a string pad and maracas. And Ed and Bobby came up with the ping-pong tambourines part.

The guys laid down a host of backing vocals (ooh-ooh!) and then launched into drum jam with djembe, dhumbek, bongos, maracas, guiro, claves, and various shakers including a baby rattle. Oh yes, they also used a vintage V-8 Juice can.

The final mix was done at 5AM and had everyone dancing around.
